Years of Deep Research in a Single Field
Founded in Daegu in 1992, Samjung Industries has developed its manufacturing technology around steel Steel Production Boards (steel pallets) used in concrete block production. What has driven that journey is one question: ‘What does the customer’s production site need?’
Samjung has found the direction of its research by looking closely at the difficulties customers face in using our products and at the needs that remain unmet. From materials and structures that last longer, to ease of maintenance and production efficiency, we have explored the needs of the field one by one and reflected them in our products and technology, while expanding our production base to Pohang and broadening our business.
Samjung’s history, which began with a single steel Steel Production Board, is also a process of understanding customer needs more deeply. One need led to new research, and that research led to the next technology, shaping Samjung Industries as it is today.
Samjung’s product development has been a process of answering these questions from the field, one by one.
- What performance does the industry truly need from a Steel Production Board, and with what steel composition can it be achieved at a reasonable price?
- Can we create an innovative, market-leading product that overcomes the limits of existing products while reducing the long-standing weight of steel Steel Production Boards?
- What manufacturing process is needed to achieve more precise flatness, the core of a Steel Production Board, and keep it over repeated use?
- Can we create a product that responds to rising energy costs, using lighter weight to cut energy consumption and operating costs while reducing environmental burden?
- How can we assign a unique ID to a steel Steel Production Board, which has long been difficult, and identify it reliably even in harsh production environments?
- Can we make the Steel Production Boards that move through the entire line smart, connecting and managing data from the history of each board to the flow across all production areas?
Samjung’s materials research began with finding the steel composition and properties suited to the environments in which Steel Production Boards are used. Building on this, we developed high-performance steel grades and evolved our products from the conventional steel WowBoard to the MetaBoard, whose materials and structure were newly designed. It is the result of researching materials and structure together to raise the required performance while reducing weight.
The scope of our research has expanded beyond manufacturing to use and maintenance. We have studied processes and machining technology that keep flatness over time, management of board condition through repeated use, and maintenance with the BoardCleaner. Today, backed by 80 patents, we continue research in materials, structure, vibration and durability, and are extending into identification of individual boards using unique IDs and data-driven production management technology.
Beginning with early export market development, Samjung’s products have been supplied to concrete block and paver production sites in more than 100 countries worldwide. We have reflected the experience gained across different equipment and operating environments in each country into improving our products and technology, adding to both our understanding of the field and the depth of our technology.

Samjung has developed materials, structures, manufacturing processes and maintenance technology while researching the performance each steel Steel Production Board needs. That research now leads to Smart Production technology, which identifies individual boards moving through the production line and connects field information as data.
Asking what the customer needs is Samjung’s constant starting point.
Going forward, we will take the challenges of the field as the direction of our research and contribute to creating a more efficient and sustainable production environment.
